No surprise here really even the big gap between first and the rest. We’ve called out Paul Finebaum as a huge SEC shill for some time. Others with a bit sharper edge might refer to him as Paul SEC Finebum and that’s fair game too.
The upside here is Paulie is amiable at being repetitively dull and the Playoff Committee is not really a committee. It’s a group of regional deeply biased ADs coming together once a year to BS each other and screw things up under the pretense they have a clue, any clue, of what the hell they’re doing.
Frankly, it’s great entertainment, often loaded with lots of stand-up comedy material. If you’re a young upcoming comic pay attention. Forget Argentina and the echoes of old Notre Dame. There are some other teams in there who get screwed pretty much every year and deserve your tears if you have any first.
And all the petty handwringing about those smaller schools, embarrassing themselves, getting some of the major exposure and a shot at a chunk of the money the two biggest greedy bully conferences want to hog for themselves speaks volumes from the Tuscaloosa Oracle.
No bias here!
“Few sports in the world can rival the tribalism of college football, and some media personalities can’t seem to help themselves either.
“As conferences curry favor with television networks through lucrative media rights deals and the like, those networks play a huge role in shaping the narrative surrounding things like realignment and the College Football Playoff.
“And that’s something that fans are privy to as well, with many being aware of the biases and conflicts of interest that may (or may not) exist within some of CFB’s top tastemakers and online figures. Source

“Wrote Awful Announcing: "We were not shocked that Finebaum topped our list. What was somewhat surprising was that his score was such an outlier, being 23 points higher than anyone else. Finebaum’s SEC-tilted coverage was no doubt going to register in our survey, but the fact that only about 1% of voters selected the 'no notable bias observed' answer was a bit surprising ... For now, Finebaum sits atop our bias rankings with no real competition."
In short, Paulie is a rank shill.
